We’re looking for a Senior Wastewater Engineer to join our Water Environment Group (WEG) in Lenexa, KS. This role is key to leading the study, design, and delivery of wastewater collection and treatment system projects. You’ll collaborate across offices, mentor junior staff, and help drive technical excellence and client satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Wastewater Engineer, you’ll:
- Lead the design and quality control of wastewater treatment projects, including primary, secondary, and tertiary systems.
- Provide technical expertise in hydraulic modeling and treatment process simulations.
- Prepare reports, technical documentation, and client deliverables.
- Coordinate construction observation services and support project execution.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering technical growth and career development.
- Assist in group scheduling, planning, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate across WEG offices to support multi-disciplinary projects.
- Support business development efforts with new and existing clients.
- Manage projects involving lift stations, sanitary sewer flow monitoring, field data collection, modeling, and system rehabilitation design.
- Ensure projects meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and client expectations.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas, Missouri, or Texas (preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in wastewater treatment and plant design.
- Expertise in biological nutrient removal, chemical feed systems, and rehabilitation design.
- Strong client management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and field environments.
- Occasional local and overnight travel may be required.
