Senior Project Manager – Mission Critical

GBA Builders is dedicated to building the critical environments common in the pharmaceutical, biotech, mission critical and other regulated industries. We provide pre-construction consulting, general contracting, design-build and construction management at risk services. GBA Builders is headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas with field offices throughout the Midwest. This position will focus in our mission critical business area. The ideal candidate will be relationship focused, both with internal and external clients. Strong problem solving and negotiation skills will be key areas needed for success.

Responsibilities:
• Be a legacy client manager for our long-term Master Service Agreements.
• Lead a Design-Build or CM@Risk team to develop projects and lead them from pursuit to closeout
• Teach, coach, and mentor staff on best practices and procedures, client interactions, soft skills, etc.
• Interact with clients and design team as needed to resolve issues and expedite the project
• Assist with business development duties to help generate opportunities
• Assist with estimating department during preconstruction and during bidding phases
• Review project estimates with operations team (field and office) to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Quality control reviews of design documents and field reviews
• Schedule development and evaluations
• Establish project budgets and forecast budgets to project completion
• Assist with project bidding and buyout – both negotiated and hard bid projects
• Writing subcontract scopes of work and initiating subcontracts

Requirements:

• Degree in Construction Science and Management or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of construction project management experience in mission critical facilities – data centers and telecom
• Detailed understanding of project accounting and P&L statements
• Ability to bring a client network to our organization that could facilitate future projects
• Proven Leadership Experience that will fit into GBA’s “Listening and Servant Leadership” culture
• Partnership approach to working with superintendents, PM’s, architects, and engineers
• MS Office Suite knowledge and excellent computer skills
• Excellent listening, communication and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player
• Self-motivation and time management skills
