Senior Survey Specialist

The Sr. Survey Specialist is a high-level position for registered surveyors that will manage/oversee multiple teams/groups. The Sr. Survey Specialist position must be able to work effectively with multiple teams and reports to upper-level staff. This position has a technical focus and may include business development and marketing tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Managing teams and/or groups

Essential Functions:

  • Assign and oversee all projects within group
  • Assure all Team Leaders are performing the following:
  • Oversight of drafting (MicroStation or AutoCAD) while maintaining GBA standards
  • Oversight of Land Records Research
  • Oversight of field crew preparatory information
  • Oversight of all boundary analysis
  • Performing thorough and complete project QA/QC
  • Training staff
  • Oversight of project and staff scheduling
  • Work with CAD Standards team to maintain and revise standards, as necessary
  • Perform boundary analysis on complex projects
  • Serve as a technical expert for all survey related work
  • Create and implement training programs for staff
  • Work with business development personnel and marketing staff to assist in technical write-ups for proposals and RFQs
  • Attend trade shows, business development events, along with assisting the marketing team with the preparation and planning for events.
  • Work and meeting with clients and potential clients to market services (surveying, civil, site, etc.)
  • Proposal development, project set-up, and billing
  • Manage projects to assure budgets and schedules are maintained
  • Subject matter Expert
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Licensed Surveyor from appropriate jurisdiction
  • 10-20 years of experience

Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.?
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Encouraged to pursue additional certifications/licensure in other jurisdictions.?
  • Advanced understanding of mathematics
  • Advanced use of CAD programs (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
  • Ability to direct and train staff, as needed
  • Attention to detail
  • Expert boundary analysis skills
  • Expert on boundary law and principles
  • Ability to Mentor and teach PMs and Jr. PMs all skills
  • Ability to understand workload vs. staffing levels and project future hiring needs
  • For business development and marketing, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to set and adhere to expectations for employee performance in an appropriate, professional manner.
  • Dependability and punctuality

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Travel:

  • Up to 15% travel may be required.
